Reduce and prevent the incidence of abuse and juvenile offenses, promote child safety and preserve families
Our Healthy Start Program is an early childhood development and parenting program designed to improve family coping skills and functioning, We promote childhood health, growth and development, build strong families by supporting growth of nurturing, emphatic parent-child relationships, enhance skills of community-based workers in effective delivery of services, and promote responsible neighborhoods and local government units that are supportive of a child and family-friendly community.
The Personal Safety Curriculum is designed to protect children from abuse, and empowers them to take part in their own protection. The curriculum addresses 3 issues: information needed by the children which covers: vocabulary of body parts, safety rules, touch continuum, boundaries, reporting and support systems, laws; Skills inclusive of decision making, assertiveness, and asking for help; and self-esteem issues - affirmation of child’s feelings and building empathy.
Our Advocacy program aims to increase the students’ awareness of their rights, responsibilities, and issues affecting them. In close coordination with the parents, teachers, and school administrators, the students actively participate in advocacy efforts that promote child protection.
