Goal 2

Assist victims of abuse and children in conflict with the law to reintegrate with their families and/or communities

Consuelo Home offers a continuum of services aimed at helping abused children and their families move in new and positive directions.  We assist children and families at risk and find resources available to them within the community. We offer support, education and a safe place for children to deal with feelings and problems related to abuse;. We also offer safe and intensive treatment for abused children and dysfunctional families.

Our Survivors Support Group Services program has created a support group for survivors of gender-based violence which continuously respond to their needs.  Members of the survivors group are empowered to extend assistance to victims of abuse, this way the victims receive timely services and support.  The support group also advocates the prevention of gender-based violence against children and women through theater arts workshops.

Our Youth Development Program assists both CICL detained in jail and those released on recognizance to develop their psychosocial competencies and help them successfully reintegrate with their families and communities. Program activities include; literacy classes, legal aid, counseling, health and education services as well as arts, music and martial arts for self-discovery and healing.

A Juvenile Justice Center and Half-way Home is soon to open as a rehabilitation, education and training center for CICL.  A safe and supervised residence will be provided for children without families to return to and the Centers rehabilitation services will offer programs on athletics, physical health and development, education and community service.
